From the Pastor’s Desk
I have discovered that each year that goes by, that time seems to fly that much faster. I remember the lazy crazy summers when I was young and time seemed to go so slow.. I know it is a perception exercise, but it makes me appreciate each day now and looking for ways God can use me, that fulfills His plan for me..
I read along with many of you the book Pray and Go. This was a start to begin praying for our neighbors and connecting in new ways.
I pray that this begins to become part of our culture that with the help of the Holy Spirit we may engage with people that need a prayer, a kindness, a positive word, a church and ultimately a relationship with our Lord and Savior.
Anne and I were blessed to participate in the Global Methodist Conference in early June. One of the take aways that I thought would serve our church family is the BLESS App: Bless Your Neighbor. (Be a Light for Christ).
This App is free and you will be joining folks everywhere that are praying for neighbors around you. Make Blessing your neighbors a daily habit. You can discover the joy of connecting with your community through this app, the ultimate tool for blessing.
I invite you to read the “Pray and Go” book by Tom S. Rainer to engage with the Holy Spirit and see what adventure God has in mind for you and incorporate the Blessing App into your daily life and see what happens! I pray that you will be directed to reach out and pray for neighbors, this summer season that will ultimately grow the Kingdom of God.
Blessings

So, Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up. Ephesians 4:11-12
God has provided everything we need to equip our people to become more mature believing followers. As leaders, this is our responsibility—a responsibility that often seems to have been overlooked in modern times. At a moment when church membership is likely at its lowest point in our country's history, we don’t want to require our members to do anything more than show up. But that is not what Paul tells the Ephesians. He writes that every believer has the gifts to equip others, and God has not given us these gifts to look nice on a shelf; we are to use them.
In Christian theology, "equipping the saints" is another term for discipling, referring the process of preparing believers for ministry and service within the church and beyond. It’s a process that entails providing them with the necessary skills, knowledge, and resources to effectively fulfill their God-given roles and contribute to the church's growth and discipline. This encompasses training, teaching, and offering opportunities for practice and experience.
As Methodists, we train and teach effectively. We have classes, training sessions, seminars, and conferences that instruct us on how to be Christians and share our faith in Christ with others. What we often lack are opportunities for practice and experience. This is likely because applying what we learn can be intimidating. However, it is by stepping out of our comfort zones that God does his best work.
Christ will build the Global Methodist Church, he promised his disciples, “...I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.” Matthew 16:18. When we focus on equipping, discipling, and evangelizing, Christ will multiply our denomination exponentially. We begin this week as the leaders of the Great Lakes Annual Conference equip us for our work in the local church; it continues when we go home and equip our people, preparing them to reach those outside the church.
Lord, we trust in your Word, and we know you keep your promises. Please help us remain faithful to your instructions and obey them wholeheartedly. Make us courageous, push us beyond our comfort zones, and lead us to the people who desperately need you. Help us equip your church to develop unified and mature believers whose hearts ache for the lost.
Amen. By Rev. Susan Roehs
We are planning a Church Picnic at Conklin Park on Sunday August 10th. Details to come. We need someone to reserve the Pavillion. Dale and Caroline Johnson did it last year, is anyone willing to do it for this year?
Hello Pastor Selleck,
Greetings to you in the name of Jesus our Lord.
I am a missionary candidate with One Mission Society (OMS) to serve in Medellín, Colombia.
In the eighth grade, I received a call to ministry and for a number of years, I was involved in drama ministry. In college, God moved my calling overseas. Then through an internship with OMS, I discovered my calling to serve Him in Colombia. During my first trip I met many of OMS ministry partners and served alongside them. ACCA is the Colombian Prison ministry that I worked with in Medellin. In the high security prison area, we had fellowship with believers. I also served on evangelism teams and helped lead people to Christ. This set my heart on fire!
The following year I returned to Medellín to live and serve the ministries, and my call to Colombia was confirmed.
Now, I am in the training and support raising process to return to Colombia as a full-time missionary. I would appreciate an opportunity to meet with you, so you are able to hear and feel my passion for what the Lord has asked me to do. Please let me know when we are able to meet. Also, I am able to send your further ministry information and answer any questions you may have.
The Lord is pouring out His Holy Spirit on the Colombian people!
In Christ's love,

The Global Methodist Church exists to make disciples of Jesus Christ and spread scriptural holiness across the Globe.
Vision Statement: Through the empowerment of the Holy Spirit, the Global Methodist Church envisions multiplying disciples of Jesus Christ throughout the earth who flourish in scriptural holiness as we worship passionately, love extravagantly, and witness boldly.
